Installation of Accessible Signboards & Braille Labels in Lift at St. Xavier's College
Installation of 6 Accessible Sign Boards in St. Xavier's College, Maitighar for In-door Navigation
We have installed 6 accessible sign boards in different parts of our college that would indicate Female and Male Toilets, Lift, Stairs, Canteen and Resource Center for Accessible Facilities. These sign boards contains braille and QR code that would give guided audio description for in-door navigation to persons with visual disabilities.
One can scan the QR code by using our QR scanner of Chain For Change app or camera of the mobile phone to get guided description to any of the 6 location mentioned in the accessible signboards installed at the college. We are testing the efficacy of the accessible signboards and as we advance, we will keep it in all the location as per the request and support from the college. It has been design by our Intern Architect for Accessibility 2023/24 Ms. Valeria Müller Tofiño. All the 6 accessible signboards are generously supported by Mr. Saren Khadgi to the project.
Installation of Braille Label at Lift of St. Xavier's College, Maitighar

Resource Centre for Accessible Facilities
Establishing Resource Centre for Accessible Facilities and integrating it in education system is CFC's mega project to overcome the graphical challenges faced by persons with visual disabilities. There are subjects in curriculum having diagram and graphical content which are understood only through visual cues or perception. This causes more than 90% of the published materials in the world inaccessible to persons with visual disabilities states World Blind Union. This is why, we need your attention and support in any way possible.
Chain For Change has received the 3D printer with the support from Expedición Solidaria and has inaugurated the Resource Centre for Accessible Facilities at St. Xavier's College, Maitighar, Kathmandu on 17th March, 2023. A dedicated course has already been running in Universitat Politècnica de València to teach students 3D design and printing. Chain For Change and St. Xavier's College, Maitighar will work in the printing and overall aspect in Nepal.

“This day is a day of celebration and also a moment of pride for our St. Xavier's College. It is a signal or sign that make our education and platform more inclusive. Even more our moto of guiding students to be the leaders of the society and 3 great individuals who started CFC is our students who went on to be leaders for a community and a segment of people in the country for whom they would make a difference. They came up with this 3D project. I had no clue what it was. I eventually figured it out now. We got started the project in the college and I would like to thank Abhishek, Sanjiya and also Joon for tirelessly working for this. And, I want to tell you that we are so proud of you.

“Universitat Politècnica de València is excited to collaborate in 3D printing project because it is a perfect tool to provide materials to blind students and their problems. The students of St. Xavier's College are going to design and provide 3D models that would be useful to different students from different schools. In the future, we hope that students from UPV can come here to collaborate with the students of St. Xavier'. Today Guillermo and I am very happy to be here in the beginning of this beautiful project and I hope this collaboration last for a long time.
Thank You!”

“You should not only work from your mind but also from your heart. Like how I worked with Sanjiya and other friends. This was my personal initiative to challenge myself working with persons with disabilities. You should learn to challenge yourself. That's your challenge. Challenge yourself, for those who state themselves as able person. You should be able to get the result of working with persons with disabilities. Challenge yourself and make a change.
Thank You!”
